About Heyoku
Heyoku finds the earlier idea a child never finished learning, and which is now making the current topic impossible.
Why we exist
School maths is a chain. Every topic sits on three or four earlier ones. When a link in that chain does not close properly, nothing after it can hold — but the child keeps moving up a class every year regardless, and the difficulty surfaces two or three years later, on a topic that had nothing to do with the original break.
By then the child has been told they are bad at maths. They are not. They are working without a piece they were never given time to finish.
How we find it
We do not start from marks. We start from reasoning: what the child wrote, which step they could not explain in their own words, and the exact wrong answer they gave. Wrong answers are far more informative than right ones, because a right answer can be produced by pattern-matching and a wrong one almost never can.
Every session we run is logged. Every misconception goes into a record with the grade, the topic, the prompt, and the prerequisite that turned out to be missing. The topic pages on this site are written from that log, which is why they contain wrong answers you will not find anywhere else.
Who is behind it
Heyoku is built by Instil AI, founded by Shivangi. The work started with founder-led sessions with a small number of families, and the misconception log has been running since.
